Hey all. I've been away from DeviantArt literally for years. The NFT situation has changed that for many of us, and DA's generous detection feature to help combat art theft lured me back. I'm under no illusions that my absurd trilobites and sketchy sketches are highly sought after, or prime-pickings to be ripped off - I occupy a niche, and that's cool. But I also wanted to become a Core member to put my money behind an effort that at its core, respects artists. I've written about issues surrounding artist credit, copyright, sharing, and combatting theft for over 10 years, much of it for Symbiartic.com when we were part of Scientific American Magazine's blog network. The current situation with NFTs is terrible for artists, I truly believe that.
